Gretel Tippett has stamped her authority in Australian netball as one of the great innovators since making her Firebirds' debut in 2015. The former basketball star delights Firebirds fans and bamboozles opposition defenders with her flair and stylish approach to the game which is highlighted by her trademark lay-up shot. Gretel has struck one of the league’s greatest attacking partnerships with shooting companion Romelda Aiken as they continue to leave defensive duos guessing week in week out.
In 2019, Gretel was awarded the Queensland Firebirds Members’ Player of the Year, Queensland Firebirds Players’ Player of the Year and the Laura Geitz Medal.
Nationally, she was named GA in the SSN team of the year and was awarded the International Player of the Year award as well as the highest honour in Netball in Australia, the Liz Ellis Diamond.
