The Firebirds purple dress stands for something important and unique for each player.
Sponsors were treated to a viewing of ‘The Purple Dress’ where Firebirds Captain Gabi Simpson remembered the first time she wore the purple dress in 2013 and explained what it meant to her.
“The fire is probably the most important piece of the dress,” Gabi said.
“The first part of fire is the warmth of it, like sitting around a campfire. It’s so communal.
“And the other part is the ferociousness of it. If it’s going to burn you, it’s going to burn you hard and it doesn’t discriminate.”
Gabi said when the team stepped out on the court in the purple dress, they wore it with pride and with purpose.
“This year we get to run out on court in the dress in front of our own crowd in our new home.
“That’s something that is going to be extremely special and we cannot wait.”
And in 2019, the team are on track for some special milestones.
Gabi Simpson is currently sitting at 91 games for the Firebirds and she is set to reach 100 this season.
Head coach Roselee Jencke has had 94 wins and is primed to surpass 100 wins this season.
And superstar Goal Attack Gretel Tippet is sitting at 945 goals and ready to make it 1,000 in 2019.
We would like to thank all our partners for their support again in 2019.

“This year we look forward to creating a strong community of netballers – women and girls – who are fearless in their approach to the game and to their lives.”
