Cara Koenen
Australian Diamonds international Cara Koenen joins the Queensland Firebirds as one of the most credentialled and accomplished shooters in world netball, adding elite firepower and championship pedigree to the club’s attacking line-up for 2027.
Standing at 190cm, Koenen combines exceptional mobility, athleticism and timing in the goal circle. Her ability to contribute at both goal shooter and goal attack has made her one of the competition’s most difficult players to defend and a focal point in any attacking end. Hailing from Magnetic Island off the coast of Townsville, Koenen is a genuine product of Queensland’s pathway system. She represented the state and Australia at underage level before building one of the sport’s most decorated domestic and international careers. Koenen claimed back-to-back Super Netball premierships with Sunshine Coast Lightning in 2017 and 2018 before making her senior international debut in 2021 as Australian Diamond No.182. She has since made more than 50 appearances for her country, playing key roles in Australia’s 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medal and 2023 Netball World Cup triumphs.FIND OUT MORE
