The tough and tenacious captain of the Queensland Firebirds, Gabi Simpson is considered one of the best defensive midcourt players in the world.
Gabi has flourished as both a player and leader since joining the side in 2013, representing the Australian Diamonds on many occasions not to mention her election as vice-captain for the team in the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Further to this, being presented with the prestigious Liz Ellis Diamond Award in 2017.
A dynamic character on court, her speed off the mark, strength and hard work ethic make her a fan favourite across the league, inspiring generations of young wing defenders. After a promising 2020 season, Gabi is determined to lead her team into finals this year.
With a sniff at the finish line and only one placement to go, Gabi has also almost completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at The University of Queensland.
