Lara Dunkley

Influential midcourter Lara Dunkley returns for an eighth consecutive season in Purple after re-signing with the Queensland Firebirds for the 2027 Suncorp Super Netball campaign.

Since arriving from the Melbourne Vixens as a replacement player in 2020, Dunkley has become a cornerstone of the Firebirds’ midcourt through her physical strength, height, competitiveness and leadership.

She played all 14 matches during the 2026 season, taking her career tally to 97 Super Netball appearances, 95 of those in Firebirds colours. Dunkley will now have every opportunity to celebrate her 100th national league appearance during the 2027 campaign.

A respected cultural leader within the group, Dunkley has consistently set high standards both on and off the court while producing strong performances against the competition’s leading teams.

Originally from Yarram in country Victoria, she remains an influential member of the Purple Family as she prepares for another season in Brisbane.
