To mark Containers for Change extending their official partner status with both organisations, the Container Cup – Netball Queensland Recycling Challenge has been launched.
This innovative collaboration goes beyond competition - it's an opportunity for netball associations and clubs across the state to make a real difference while raising funds.
The challenge invites associations and clubs to collect 10-cent containers throughout the season, with the top three performers earning a collective share of $3,000 in HART Sport vouchers.
NQ Chief Executive Officer Kate Davies said the initiative was an exciting opportunity for fans and players alike to support the netball community.
“The Container Cup not only encourages associations to sign up and fundraise through container collection but also provides a fantastic opportunity to further boost the recycling efforts within the netball community," Davies said.
Container Exchange is the not-for-profit that operates Containers for Change in Queensland and Chief Executive Natalie Roach said she believed the partnership with the Firebirds and NQ would continue to deliver great results.
“Sporting clubs, charities, schools and community groups have raised more than $12 million through Containers for Change and partnerships like this will help us grow that impact even further," Ms Roach said.
“The Container Cup will further inspire grass roots clubs to activate their supporter networks, harnessing the cash in their containers to raise funds. It’s a win for community netball and a win for the local environment.”
The partnership strives to educate the netball community on the importance of recycling, emphasising sustainability and environmental responsibility. In addition, the collaboration aims to support stadium collections, reinforcing the idea that every contribution counts towards creating a more sustainable future.
Mini-competitions will be held during this year’s Senior State Age and Junior State Age events, allowing associations to compete for vouchers by collecting 10-cent containers over the four-day competitions. This innovative approach not only promotes recycling but instils a sense of camaraderie among participants.
Join the Queensland Firebirds, Netball Queensland, and Containers for Change in The Container Cup – where competition meets sustainability, and every container collected brings us one step closer to a greener, cleaner future.
