Position Description
The Queensland Firebirds are looking for friendly, reliable and punctual members of our purple community who work with poise in high pressure situations as a Umpire Liaison for the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball season. Candidates need to confidently work to a strict timeline and within a team environment.
About the role
Ensure that umpires are escorted and catered for on game day.
Applicant Requirements:
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- All volunteers aged 18 or over must adhere to the requirements of holding a current blue card. If you don't currently hold a valid blue card, please click here to visit the Queensland Government blue card website.
Availability
Due to COVID-19, current volunteer positions are currently on hold.
Report Relationships
Reports to the Event Coordinator and Event Manager
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Match
- Arrive at venue one hour and 30 minutes (1.30) before the start of the game
- Sign in and collect accreditation from Workforce Coordinator
- Check in with Event Coordinator and collect match timer
- Ensure the umpire room is set up as required by the umpires
- Ensure the esky has Powerade and water stocked
- Exactly one (1 hour) prior to game start, ensure umpires are fitted with microphones from Broadcast (if required)
- Escort umpires to coin toss as per the event run sheet
- Escort umpires to Field of Play 5-10 minutes prior to match start
During Match
- Stand out of view of the cameras in the Field of Play
- Escort the umpires to the umpire room at half time
- Escort the umpires back to Field of Play as requried by run sheet
Post Match
- Escort umpires from Field of Play to umpire's change room
- Return accreditation to Workforce Coordinator
