The Tonga Tala representative, who captained her country in their maiden World Cup appearance earlier this year in South Africa, joins the Firebirds list of 10 contracted players after several seasons as a training partner.
A Grand Final winner with the Firebirds in 2016, Veve featured in three SSN matches in 2023 after coming into the team as a temporary replacement player including the Round 8 Pride Round win over Collingwood at Nissan Arena.
“I’m super excited to re-sign with the Firebirds for 2024,” Veve said.
“It’s like a dream come true all over again.
“In 2016 I was young and inexperienced but loved every second. Eight years on and here I am, two children and a husband later and it’s the same dream that I have been chasing since I was 10 years old.
“I couldn’t be happier and can’t wait to be back in a purple dress for 2024.”
Firebirds Head Coach Bec Bulley said the mother of two brings not just her netball skills to the court but leadership as well.
“Hulita is a born competitor who brings defensive steel to the midcourt but can also use her vision and cool head to spark attacks,” Bulley said.
“As well as her considerable talents, Hulita is a terrific presence around the team and a proven leader as both the captain of her HART Sapphire Series team and internationally with Tonga.
“I know our fanbase will be delighted to welcome Hulita back to the team as a fulltime player in 2024 and I’m personally excited to have her in my squad for this season.”
