Winless since Round 2 last year, the Firebirds surged to a commanding 20-plus goal lead in the third term before running out 78-55 winners in the Easter Saturday clash at Ken Rosewall Arena.
Despite the late withdrawal of New Zealand international Kelly Jackson before the game, captain Ruby Bakewell-Doran shone in defence in a player of the match display.
Bakewell-Doran notched nine gains and three intercepts to lead from the front for her team while down the other end of the court Mary Cholhok was dominant, scoring 62 goals.
Macy Gardner ended the game with 124 Net Points, with 13 goal assists and 25 feeds while there was even time for Queensland pathways product Lily Gribble to get on the court for the final six minutes to make her Suncorp Super Netball debut and become Firebird No.122.
With both teams winless heading into the clash, the stakes were high but the Firebirds immediately took control, racing to a 10-goal lead at quarter time with a 22-12 first-quarter display.
By halftime that margin had extended to 19-points after the Firebirds again topped 20 goals in a quarter to complete easily their best half of the season so far.
The margin continued to build, reaching 26-goals by three-quarter time as the Firebirds punished any mistake by the home team.
Gribble and fellow young gun Elsa Sif Sandholt were both given valuable court time in the fourth quarter, which the home team rallied to win by three goals but it didn't dampen celebrations at fulltime as the Firebirds ended a 15-game losing streak.
The Firebirds are back on the road next week to face the West Coast Fever in Perth on Sunday, April 12.
