Simpson sustained a left ankle injury whilst landing on a foot during the second-quarter of the match.
Fortunately there is no fracture but Simpson will miss this Sunday's clash with the West Coast Fever at RAC Arena in Perth.
Simpson will undertake rehabilitation with her availability to be assessed week-to-week based on her recovery.
Queensland Firebirds training partner Leesa Mi Mi will join the squad as a temporary replacement player for this weekend's match and will make her Suncorp Super Netball debut if she takes the court.
Mi Mi is a Queensland pathways product who was a member of last year's Queensland Sapphires team at the Australian National Championships as well as part of the Brisbane North Cougars team which won last year's HART Sapphire Series alongside fellow Firebirds Remi Kamo, Macy Gardner and Ashlee Unie.
