Wills and her new-look Firebirds team begin their season with a trip to Sydney to face the Giants at Ken Rosewall Arena on Sunday, April 6.
The clash with Julie Fitzgerald’s experienced line-up presents a perfect opportunity for Wills and her team to lay down an early marker.
“I can’t wait for us to get the SSN season underway,” Wills said.
“I know we’re starting the season on the road but I’m excited for the opportunity to get off to a winning start and show the rest of the competition what we’re about in 2025.”
Highlights of the 2025 SSN fixture include the Firebirds’ first home match against West Coast Fever in Round Two (April 12).
That match is the first of seven home games at Nissan Arena including a home First Nations Round clash with the Melbourne Vixens on Sunday, May 25 and a State of Origin encounter with the NSW Swifts on Sunday, July 13.
The Firebirds travel to state rivals Sunshine Coast Lightning on Saturday, April 26 before hosting a Queensland derby at Nissan Arena on Saturday, June 7.
“I’ve heard plenty about the experience our supporters bring to any Firebirds match on our home court and can’t wait to see it first-hand myself,” Wills said.
“The players always refer to our fans as our eighth player on court and I am in no doubt their support will be just as important as we aim to make Nissan Arena the hardest venue for any team to visit in the league.”
