Defender Lillyana Rennie was the standout performer in Friday's 59-58 win over the Swifts at Nissan Arena, combining with Lily Gribble at the back to restrict the visitors' powerful attacking end as the Firebirds Futures opened up a big lead at three-quarter time.
The Swifts came back hard thanks to their Super Shot prowess in the fourth-quarter but a crucial intercept in the dying seconds of the game by Gemma Hutchings enabled the Firebirds to hold on for a thrilling win.
Elsa Sif Sandholt led the way in attack with 43 goals from 46 attempts.
The Firebirds Futures were back at Nissan Arena on Sunday to face the Vixens and led at every change to complete a 63-54 win.
Sandholt again led the way on the scoreboard with 38 goals while Abigail Latu-Meafou backed up from appearing for the Firebirds in the earlier Suncorp Super Netball match against the Melbourne Vixens with 16 goals.
Jess Laga'aia, who had been an unused substitute in that SSN match-up, dominated the midcourt while Rennie and Danielle Taylor stood tall in defence to secure the Futures their third win of the season from five matches.
The Futures travel west this weekend for their penultimate fixture of the 2025 Super Netball Reserves season, facing the West Coast Fever Reserves at the Gold Netball Centre from 5.30pm (1930 AEST).
