With the Melbourne Mavericks joining as the eighth Suncorp Super Netball-affiliated team, the second-year competition is set to intensify, offering new opportunities and challenges for emerging talent.
The revamped 2025 competition features extra national match play, an expanded Finals Weekend and an in-season tournament that will provide young athletes with more chances to shine.
Firebirds Futures Head Coach Jess Whitfort said after the introduction of Super Netball Reserves last year, it’s exciting for the competition to have developed in 2025.
“Last year’s competition was a great introduction to the SN reserve competition, exposing our young athletes to this weekly format that mimics the intensity, physicality and travel involved in an SSN game,” Whitfort said.
“This year we are hungry to get out there and compete against the best in the country and showcase our emerging talent in this exciting competition.
“The list we have is a reflection of our brightest young emerging athletes from within our Netball Queensland pathway and some of our experienced performers within our HART Premier Netball League competition that will come together to create a team that will be highly competitive but also be aiming to expose our young guns to the next step up in competition and challenge them to work to the intensity and demands of a High-performance environment.”
The Firebirds Futures begin their 2025 Super Netball Reserves season with a trip to Melbourne to play the Mavericks at Waverley Netball Centre on Saturday, May 3.
