Up by just one goal at halftime, the Firebirds won the third and fourth quarters by two goals each to run 61-56 winners over the Giants at Morayfield Sports and Events Centre on Sunday.
The win in the seventh-place playoff means the Firebirds Futures end the tournament having won four of their six matches.
Wing attack Jesse Laga’aia had a game-high 35 feeds in a dynamic midcourt display that also included 23 goal assists.
Her midcourt partner, Firebirds Futures captain Leesa Mi Mi was equally impressive at centre, winning the battle against opposite number Amy Sliger with a game-high 26 goal assists.
Maddi Ridley completed an impressive midcourt showing, racking up four gains, two intercepts and five deflections at wing defence.
Shooters Abigail Meafou and Rylee Burns were the beneficiaries of their teammate’s efforts, with Meafou scoring 30 goals from 32 attempts while Burns had 21 goals from 25 attempts.
Elsa Sif Sandholt also made the most of her 19 minutes on court, scoring 10 from 13 including nine third-quarter goals.
Ashlee Barnett capped her impressive tournament with another dominant defensive effort, finishing with four gains and three intercepts as well as five deflections.
Earlier on Sunday, Firebirds Futures training partner Jess Milne played 49 minutes for the Capital Darters but was unable to prevent them slipping to a 75-61 loss to Tasmania Wild in the ninth-place playoff.
