In a match which featured three debutantes as well as being Head Coach Kiri Wills' first game in charge, the Firebirds were too good for the Giants to make a winning start to an SSN season for the first time since the competition started in 2018.
The win was set up via a wonderful opening quarter where the Firebirds came out strong and raced to a 19-12 lead at the end of the term.
The Giants came back strong in the second term but the Firebirds were able to steady and just hold onto a one-point lead going into the halftime break.
A dominant third quarter allowed the Firebirds open up a five-goal advantage which they maintained in a tense fourth quarter to secure a precious win in the Firebirds 400th national league game.
Midcourt dynamo Macy Gardner was the player of the match in an all-action display which included 10 goal assists, 27 feeds, three gains and six deflections.
The match was also highlighted by the debuts of Imogen Allison, Mary Cholhok and Ashlee Barnett, who became Firebirds No.114, 115 and 116 respectively.
Cholhok led the scoring with 43 goals on her SSN debut while Allison combined with co-captain Hulita Veve to create a defensive wall on the Giants.
Isabelle Shearer's four gains in defence and five deflections also caught the eye with the young goalkeeper standing tall throughout.
Emily Moore, returning to her hometown Sydney, gave the Firebirds plenty in attack too with eight goals including three Suncorp Super Shots.
The Firebirds will look to continue their winning ways when they hold their first home game of the season next weekend against the West Coast Fever at Nissan Arena.
