Glasgow hit 14 two-point shots as the Fever dominated the encounter at RAC Arena, posting the highest score in a match in Suncorp Super Netball history.
The Firebirds, playing without experienced defender Gabi Simpson after an ankle injury suffered in last week’s clash with Adelaide, handed a first SSN start to Ash Unie at wing defence.
The hosts came out firing however to quickly take the ascendancy with Glasgow hitting four Suncorp Super Shots in the opening quarter as the Fever opened up a 10-point lead at the first break.
Down by 20 at halftime, Firebirds Head Coach Bec Bulley turned to her bench, bringing on Hulita Veve in the midcourt and Mia Stower in the goal third.
Stower made an impact with a pair of Suncorp Super Shots of her own in the third term, while West Australian-born Wallam – cheered on by a sizable number of friends and family in the stands – hit six two-pointers of her own in the match.
There was a special moment for Leesa Mi Mi at the start of the fourth quarter – subbed in at wing attack to make her Suncorp Super Netball debut.
Mi Mi, who celebrated her 22nd birthday on Thursday, becomes Firebird No.109 and follows in the footsteps of her sister Jemma in donning the purple dress.
The Firebirds will look to bounce back when they take on Giants Netball next Sunday at Ken Rosewall Arena as part of the SSN’s First Nations Round.
