Defeat means the Futures sit outside the Super Netball Reserves top four heading into the final match of their home and away campaign against the Sunshine Coast Lightning Bolts at Nissan Arena.
The Futures started strongly at Perth's Gold Netball Centre, holding a 15-13 lead at the end of the first quarter with Abigail Latu-Meafou backing up from the earlier Suncorp Super Netball match between the Queensland Firebirds and West Coast Fever at RAC Arena to hit some crucial Super Shots.
The home team had SSN experience of their own with Olivia Wilkinson playing goal shooter and her accuracy helped the Fever snatch a lead at halftime, winning the second quarter by five to be three goals clear at the main break.
The Futures were still right in the battle after the teams couldn't be split 13-all in the third quarter but it was the hosts who came out on top in the final quarter to secure their fourth win of the season.
Midcourter Danielle Taylor was a standout for the Futures, providing a constant link between defence and attack while Latu-Meafou ended with 22 goals in a match where all 13 players faced court time.
Lily Gribble, Ashlee Barnett and Lillyana Rennie also battled hard in defence against the Fever's experienced attacking lineup.
The Futures return home this weekend to face the Lightning Bolts from 7.30pm at Nissan Arena in their last match before the 2025 Super Netball Reserves Finals Weekend and 'Play-In Tournament' at Melbourne's Waverley Netball Centre later this month.
