Led by the shooting of Elsa Sif Sandholt, who scored 35 goals and two Super Shots in a four-quarter effort, the Futures couldn't keep pace with the hosts at Ken Rosewall Arena losing the fourth quarter by eight on their way to the 13-goal defeat.
The loss means the Futures cannot make the SN Reserves top four but they still have the chance to play disruptor ahead of this month's finals weekend in Sydney, hosting the fourth-placed Sunshine Coast Lightning Bolts this weekend at Nissan Arena in the final round of home and away fixtures.
A win in the Queensland derby clash, being held before Saturday's Suncorp Super Netball Queensland Day Mega Round match between the Firebirds and Lightning, could jeopardise the Lightning Bolts' own semi-final ambitions while helping the Futures lift from the bottom of the competition ladder.
Saturday's match begins at 4.40pm with streaming coverage available on Kommunity TV (subscription required).
