Thanks to our wonderful fans for your support over the past few weeks. Last week was tough but we’re super hungry this week and last weekend’s score showed how close we are to a win. Wasn’t it remarkable to see 3 games decided on the buzzer? It really demonstrates the talent we have in the Suncorp Super Netball competition.
This week, we’ll be looking to capitalise on the pivotal game moments and making the most of the short travel up the coast this week. We have a little inside information on Mahalia from last year and we know the Lightning play smart netball, they read the play well in both attack and defence and have talent across the court.
I’m expecting lots of tactical changes throughout the game this week from both sides too. Our Firebirds team will be focused on good ball movement, adapting on the fly and disrupting offensive setups. We’ll also be looking to dictate in both attack and defence to control the game.
Indigenous rounds last week (game 5) and this week (game 6) are particularly special for us, as we’re able to share and learn with Jemma. Last week at home was a fabulous acknowledgement to our indigenous family.
A special shout out this week, to the Firebirds performance team who work behind the scenes to prepare the girls for their game. The Performance Team are all fairly new too – we’ve found our flow, it’s a really good environment and this week we’ve been keenly focused on evaluating how we can do things better.
I’m really grateful for our purple family – fans, our supporters and our team behind the scenes. If there’s one thing our team will be synonymous for this year it’s embracing family, family values and being grateful for the opportunity to have our families around us.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could change the maroon to purple this week across the state for Queensland Week celebrations?
