Gordon became Firebird No.119 when she made her debut in Round 1 of the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season against the Melbourne Vixens at Nissan Arena, going on to make nine appearances in her sole campaign in purple.
The 26-year-old's season was defined as much by resilience as by her performances on court.
After a serious hamstring injury sidelined her for several weeks, Gordon fought back to finish the year strongly, a comeback reflected at the club's awards night when she finished runner-up to compatriot Kelly Jackson in the 2026 Laura Geitz Medal count.
She then went on to help New Zealand secure gold at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
"I just want to say a huge thank you to the Firebirds for giving me the opportunity to play Suncorp Super Netball," Gordon said.
"I’ve absolutely loved being a part of this club and getting to know such an amazing group of girls.
"I’m so grateful for the memories, the experiences and the people I’ve met along the way. The Firebirds will always hold such a special place in my heart, and I’ll forever be grateful for my time here."
Firebirds Head Coach Kiri Wills thanked Gordon for her contribution and wished her well for the future.
“Maddy showed real character throughout her season with us,” Wills said.
“To come back from a serious hamstring injury and finish the year the way she did, polling enough votes to run second in our MVP count, speaks volumes about her quality and determination.
“We thank her for everything she gave the Firebirds this year and wish Maddy all the very best with her future endeavours.”
