A Netball Queensland pathways product who has represented her state at five different underage levels, Gribble says being part of the Firebirds Futures has opened her eyes to the possibilities that lie ahead of her.
“For me, the fun of nationals and the opportunities it provides is what it’s all about, I’m so grateful to be a part of the Firebirds Futures,” Gribble said.
“To wear the purple dress for my home club I support is so special.
“I’ve never been more motivated and never felt closer to where I want to be, which is in an SSN (Suncorp Super Netball) environment.”
After taking part in the 2019 National Netball Championships as part of Queensland’s 17U team, COVID-19 disruptions prevented Gribble competing in nationals the following two years despite training for several months to be part of the 19U team.
That disappointment didn’t stop Gribble however, with the 21-year-old being a key part of this year’s TAE Aerospace Jets squad which won the HART Sapphire Series minor premiership before reaching this year’s grand final.
That on-court success has Gribble confident in her own game as the Firebirds Futures get ready to begin their ANC campaign at the Morayfield Sport and Events Centre from August 21-27.
“I’ve worked hard on my strength and fitness in the past two years for versatility across all three defensive positions,” Gribble said.
“I play predominantly goalkeeper in the state league, so I’m keen to match up against players outside of the circle at ANC.”
The Firebirds Futures begin their 2023 ANC campaign on Monday, August 21 against the West Coast Fever Reserves from 5pm.
