Netball Queensland and the Queensland Firebirds are excited to announce iNSPIRE Sport as our 2020 Official Premier Partner and our new ally in promoting the well-being of young athletes.
iNSPIRE Sport has developed a wellness system that provides athletes, coaches and clubs with evidence-based information and smart features to track overall wellness: including mood, sleep, fatigue, sickness, nutrition and training quality.
Founded in Brisbane by former elite gymnast Annie Flamsteed in 2016, the goal is to make users the happiest, healthiest and best athletes they can be – while reducing illness, injuries, burn out and mental illness in today’s youth sports community.
The partnership will officially launch on 10 May at the Queensland Firebirds’ first home game for the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball season. With a range of activities and quarter-time fun planned, the wellness message will burn bright with thousands of young attendees.
Netball Queensland’s Chief Executive Officer, Catherine Clark said the partnership was a perfect fit.
“Both Netball Queensland and the Queensland Firebirds are passionate about the power of sport to transform young lives” Catherine said. “With more than 70,000 registered players and an engaged community of more than 300,000 people, we’re so excited to help iNSPIRE spread such a crucial message around the importance of mental and physical empowerment.”
The Queensland Firebirds themselves have a laser-sharp focus on psychological well-being.
“Last year we took part in a research study that showed the brain plays a much stronger role in athletic performance than previously suspected,” she said. “Feeling mentally drained or stressed can seriously impact physical performance, motivation and even dietary choices.”
“We are very much about making sure our team is in a great head space, as that’s truly how you get the most from people. It’s about creating an incredibly supportive and safe space where everyone wants to excel individually and together.”
Both Netball Queensland and iNSPIRE Sport see great potential in using easy, accessible technology to promote the well-being of young netballers.
Watch this space as we work together on an innovative new platform to help netballers get the most from sport and life, with the rollout expected in coming months.
Meanwhile, the iNSPIRE Sport app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play Store. Netballers can use the code 'NETBALLQ' to sign up for a 7-day free trial.
