Firebird No.123 made a memorable Super Netball debut last season, playing the full 60 minutes in an 11-goal win over the NSW Swifts at Nissan Arena.
She backed that up with another appearance as an injury replacement player, before capping her year with a guest stint for the Southern Steel in New Zealand's ANZ Premiership that stretched all the way to the grand final.
Domestically, the dynamic midcourter remains close to unstoppable, the two-time Katie Walker Medallist at the heart of the Kedron-Wavell Cougars charge to yet another HART Premier Netball League Sapphire Division Grand Final title on Sunday.
“I’m really excited to be back with the Firebirds for the 2027 season,” Jessie said.
“I feel like I’ve grown a lot as a player under Kiri’s coaching, and I’m incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to be part of this environment again.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to challenge myself, develop my game and put myself in the best position to show I’m ready for the Super Netball environment.
“Brisbane has become a home away from home for me, so I’m really excited to be back and see what this club can achieve in 2027.”
Firebirds Head Coach Kiri Wills said Laga'aia's performances across two competitions this year had been a standout.
“Jessie has proven all year, for us and for the Steel, that she can handle whatever level she's thrown into,” Wills said.
“She reads the game beautifully, she competes hard defensively, and she just seems to get better with every opportunity.
“Having someone with her international experience and big-game temperament in our training group makes everyone around her sharper.”
