Queensland netball fans will have even further opportunities to see the world’s best players in their own backyard, following the release of Rounds 4-6 fixtures for the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball season today.
The Queensland Firebirds’ home Nissan Arena will host another 6 games across the next fortnight, with the home team headlining a further three double headers.
The Firebirds face GIANTS Netball in Round 4, reigning Premiers the NSW Swifts in Round 5, and West Coast Fever in Round 6.
All three match ups will be the second game of a double header fixture on Saturday 15 August, Tuesday 18 August and Saturday 22 August respectively.
Netball Queensland CEO Catherine Clark said it was a ringing endorsement for the leading indoor sporting facility in the country.
“Like all proud Queenslanders, our team at Nissan Arena has gone above and beyond to welcome the world’s best competition to our new sporting mecca,” Clark said.
“The opening rounds of Suncorp Super Netball have highlighted the advantages of a versatile, purpose built facility like Nissan Arena, with its ability to seamlessly and swiftly transition from a high performance training environment to an industry leading game day venue for all 8 clubs.”
“I’ve also been humbled to see just how passionately our Purple Family has engaged, not only in the Firebirds games but also the fixtures involving interstate teams, particularly given the environment we continue to navigate.”
“I know the other Clubs have certainly appreciated how warmly they’ve been embraced and it’s pleasing to see the League reward the efforts of Queenslanders in delivering the competition with further games at the home of netball in our state.”
While the Queensland Firebirds are firmly focused on tonight’s Round 3 clash against Magpies Netball at Nissan Arena, their attention will quickly turn to the game against GIANTS Netball at 3pm on Saturday.
