Veve, an ever-present in the Firebirds' 2024 campaign, will continue to bring her exceptional skills and leadership to the Purple Dress.
The new deal is a further testament to mother-of-two Veve’s incredible dedication and passion for the game after securing her first full-time Firebirds contract in eight years for the 2024 season.
A premiership winner with the Firebirds in 2016, Veve spent time away from the game for the birth of sons Jakiah and Jeremiah before five years as a training partner.
Veve’s standing within the game never faltered however, leading the Tonga Tala to their first World Cup appearance in South Africa in 2023.
Offered a fulltime contract ahead of the 2024 season, Veve’s determination to break back into the elite level has been further rewarded.
Veve’s impact for the Firebirds in 2024 has been highlighted by her having the highest average centre pass receives of any wing defence/goal defence in SSN this season.
Veve is also ranked first among wing defences in the league for pickups and third for wing defences for deflections and gains.
“I’m just so grateful to get another opportunity to put on the purple dress for the 2025 SSN season,” Veve said.
“I didn’t think I would even make it this year so to be where I am now and be able to do it all again next year is just the dream that keeps on giving and I couldn’t be more excited for another season with my Purple Family.
“I have so much love for this sport and this club and I cannot wait to run out as a Firebird in 2025.”
The news is a huge boost for the Firebirds heading into this weekend’s trip to Sydney to face the NSW Swifts.
“Hulita has performed strongly for us in 2024,” Firebirds General Manager – High Performance Adrian Thompson said.
“More importantly, she is the type of player we want at the club moving forward.
“She is hard working with a team-first mentality. We are looking forward to her contribution as we build for next season.”
