Versatile midcourter Veve, a 2023 Firebirds training partner, has been brought into the squad to face the Magpies as a replacement for Macy Gardner who suffered a fractured wrist after a collision in last weekend’s clash with the Melbourne Vixens.
Gardner is expected to be out for up to six weeks due to the injury.
Veve is no stranger to the Firebirds, having been part of the club’s 2016 ANZ Championship grand final win.
The 27-year-old has been a training partner with the Firebirds for multiple seasons, making appearances in the 2020 and 2021 Suncorp Super Netball campaigns.
Veve comes into the team after leading Tonga to victory in the PacficAus Sports Netball Series on the Gold Coast last month.
Saturday’s match is the third Pride encounter between the Firebirds and Magpies in a tradition stretching back to 2021.
Both teams will don rainbow bibs for the match, which is part of Suncorp Super Netball’s inaugural Inclusion Round.
Tickets for Saturday’s match are still available via Ticketek.
