On Sunday, 15 February, the Queensland Firebirds Fun Walk will bring fans, families and the full squad together for a relaxed, community-led morning on the Brisbane River. With the walk led by Firebirds players, who’ll stroll alongside participants throughout the course, this is your chance to get active with the Birdies during pre-season and share the excitement as the new campaign approaches.
Firebirds Head Coach Kiri Wills said this exciting event is all about connection.
“We want the Purple Family right there with us as we build toward round one,” Wills said.
“It’s a fun, family-friendly way to celebrate the season ahead and to welcome everyone into what’s going to be a huge year for our club.”
And what a moment to celebrate with the Fun Walk marking one month until the Firebirds’ opening match of the 2026 season, a blockbuster home clash against reigning premiers Melbourne Vixens at Nissan Arena on 15 March.
Expect smiles, selfies and plenty of purple pride plus your first chance to meet recruits Kelly Jackson, Maddy Gordon and Te Paea Selby-Rickit, while also catching up with returning fan favourites.
The Queensland Firebirds 2026 Fun Walk starts at 8am, Sunday 15 February, along the Brisbane Riverwalk, beginning at Powerhouse Plaza. Registration is $35 and includes a Firebirds visor for the first 200 to sign up.
You’ll enjoy a scenic 5km loop plus a festival-style finish-line hub featuring a fruit and hydration station, music and entertainment and a post-walk player signing session.
The event will also feature a Netball Queensland Play Netball activation, the chance to meet Firebirds mascot Phoenix, a Firebirds temporary tattoo station, balloon artist, membership and ticketing booth and 2026 merchandise stand thanks to Tribal Sport. The all-new Firebirds 2026 Trading Cards will also be available to purchase.
“Bring your teammates, bring the family and let’s turn the Riverwalk purple,” Wills said.
