In front of a rowdy home crowd, the Firebirds battled bravely throughout but couldn't keep pace with the in-form Fever, who claimed every quarter in the 17-goal win.
Trailing by 11 at halftime, the Firebirds rallied after the break and had cut that margin in half late in the third term before a flurry of points from the Fever actually ended with the hosts winning the quarter 19-17.
Just as the score threatened to really blow out, the Firebirds found more fight with Emily Moore and Abigail Latu-Meafou combining well in a moving circle to score multiple Suncorp Super Shots and keep the home side honest in the dying stages of the match.
Latu-Meafou and Moore would end the game with a combined six two-pointers while Mary Cholhok scored 39 from 44 in her 50 minutes on the court.
Young defender Isabelle Shearer battled bravely against the in-form Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard, finishing the game with four gains, an intercept and three deflections.
Hulita Veve also shone in the midcourt, picking up 81.5 Nissan Net Points in a 16 goal-assist, two-gain, two-intercept display.
The loss however has left a sense of frustration for the Firebirds, who are now winless in six matches heading into next weekend's Queensland derby against the Sunshine Coast Lightning at Nissan Arena.
"What we were really pleased with tonight was that we actually got our ball - we were struggling to get it out of our defensive end and turning over ball in the last three rounds - and we actually got it through reasonably well tonight to the other end of the court and our ball speed picked up which is something that we worked really hard on this week," Head Coach Kiri Wills said.
"But there are other parts of the game that we just weren't quite nailing and consistency is very elusive for us at the moment. It's very frustrating for all of us."
