You come into every season wanting to make finals, that doesn’t change for us in 2022.
What changes is the willingness to do everything it takes to get you to that point. It’s constant hard work, it’s not just turning up on game day and having it happen for you.
We have to take control of what we can control and make it happen. That’s where we fell down last year, we have made it our purpose this year to change that mindset.
Look, I think last year, after starting during pre-season, I’d give myself a pass grade (if I’m being generous) for my personal performance.
I think we got somewhat close to where we needed to be by season end, but certainly I identified many areas of improvement for myself as a coach in our season review.
I’m pleased with how we’ve developed in the off-season on the back of those reviews, so I’m excited to see what we can achieve on court this year.
We do have a few new faces in the squad which is exciting for us, and they have each bought such a level of intensity to our team this year that’s it’s lifted everyone around them.
So while they’re new, they have really stood up and stamped their mark on the team and showed us they’re ready to go.
I think a few teams are a little unknown in that they have new team members which change up their structures quite a bit.
It’s not just us and I think in the first few rounds the difference will be who can adapt most quickly to those new combinations out on court.
It’s amazing to think it’s game week! The last two or three weeks have gone really quickly.
I’m excited to see new members Mia, Ruby, Eboni and Donnell take the court in their first official match as a part of the Firebirds.
The feeling of anticipation just went through the roof this week and the vibe’s good out on court and in the NQ office. We’re loving it and can’t wait to start.
Everyone is so excited to get back out on the floor at Nissan arena with a full capacity crowd cheering us on.
We’re so grateful for any games we get at home, we’ve missed a few the past two years either from being away or not being able to have crowds.
The team would love to thank all the fans in advance for signing up to be members and can’t wait to see them courtside all year long in their purple cheering loud.
Go Birdies!
