The Queensland Firebirds can confirm they will not play their next match until at least mid next week.
Today the Suncorp Super Netball League advised no games would be played this weekend, to allow it and all of its clubs sufficient time to plan the next three rounds of home and away season.
The announcement follows the league relocating six clubs to Queensland in a bid to finish the season which has been heavily disrupted by Australia’s COVID pandemic.
Netball Australia CEO Kelly Ryan said the last-minute relocation to Queensland had presented significant challenges regarding the fixture.
“The teams have experienced a highly disrupted week, having relocated to Queensland at very short notice,” Ryan said.
“We have a number of challenges to work through with our stakeholders, including venues and broadcast, before we can lock in the fixture for the remaining three rounds.
“We are committed to delivering a full 60-game season of Suncorp Super Netball without extending the length of the competition.”
The Queensland Firebirds would like to once again thank its members and partners for their support and understanding throughout this challenging period.
We will provide further updates once the league has made those known.
Until then we will continue to prepare the best we can for our the remainder of the season, to make the purple family proud.
