The 26-year-old will move to Brisbane for her first taste of SSN after playing all her career so far in her homeland.
A member of the England Roses team since 2020, making 43 appearances for her country, Allison made her international tournament debut at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham before being a part of the silver-medal winning Roses team at last year’s World Cup.
Born in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, Allison debuted in the English Super League with the Yorkshire Jets in 2016 before joining Team Bath ahead of the 2017 season.
Playing alongside former Firebird Eboni Usoro-Brown, Allison enjoyed great success at Bath where they reached the 2021 Grand Final following a campaign where Allison was named Bath’s Player of the Year.
Allison captained Bath the following season before making the move to the Manchester Thunder ahead of the 2024 season.
In her sole campaign with the Thunder, Allison again reached the Grand Final with her team only to be beaten by the Loughborough Lightning.
“I’ve always enjoyed watching SSN and hoped to get the opportunity to play in it,” Allison said.
“I’m at the point in my career where I feel like I’ll really benefit from experiencing different styles of play in the Australian league and also with a bit of a Kiwi style playing under Kiri.
“I’m most looking forward to meeting my teammates and getting to know them on and off the court. I’m also looking forward to getting to know Brisbane. I’ve only been once and I loved the city so I’m excited to explore more.”
Firebirds Head Coach Kiri Wills said despite being only 26, Allison brings leadership and experience to the Firebirds midcourt.
“Imogen has great physical attributes which I’m sure will suit her well in the SSN,” Wills said.
“Her quick feet, agility and timing ensures she provides a body-on-body defensive threat but can also come away from the body to secure loose ball or force a turnover.
“She has also proven her leadership credentials with Bath, adding to a midcourt pool that already includes Lara Dunkley, Tonga captain Hulita Veve and our recently crowned MVP in Macy Gardner.
“I’m beyond excited to see the impact Imogen can have in Australia and I know she’ll be a favourite of our fans in no time.”
The Firebirds will share with members and fans an announcement on our final contracted position for 2025 in coming days.
