With next year’s campaign making an earlier than normal start in mid-March, the Firebirds’ new-look line up including New Zealand trio Kelly Jackson, Maddy Gordon and Te Paea Selby-Rickit will face an immediate test on Sunday, March 15 when the grand-final winning Vixens travel to Nissan Arena.
A week later the Firebirds will then head up the road to UniSC Arena on Saturday, March 21 to take on familiar foes at the Lightning including former Firebird Donnell Wallam.
Another Sunday afternoon clash at Nissan Arena in Round Three against the Adelaide Thunderbirds awaits on March 29 before the Firebirds hit the road in back-to-back away trips at GIANTS Netball and West Coast Fever.
Other highlights of the 2026 fixture include a First Nations Round match against the Fever at Nissan Arena on Sunday, May 24 and a massive derby showdown against the Lightning on Queensland Day (Saturday, June 6) at Nissan Arena which is sure to be marked in every Queensland netball fan’s calendar.
The Firebirds conclude their home and away season on the road against the Melbourne Mavericks at John Cain Arena on Saturday, June 13.
“The release of the 2026 draw has thrown up an exciting – and challenging – start to our campaign but it is a test that I know myself and the entire team will relish,” Firebirds Head Coach Kiri Wills said.
“What better way to show everyone what this team is about than starting our year against the reigning premiers and then taking on our local rivals in their patch?
“Last year we witnessed a record number of attendees for a Firebirds season at Nissan Arena and I’m excited to see that level of support continue in 2026.”
