Led by newly announced co-captains Ruby Bakewell-Doran and Hulita Veve, the Firebirds will face the West Coast Fever in their opening match at the Netball SA Stadium on Friday.
They’ll then take on the Melbourne Vixens and old rivals and defending Team Girls Cup holders NSW Swifts in a Saturday double-header before Sunday’s playoff fixtures.
The tournament will be the first competitive hitout in purple for imports Imogen Allison and Mary Cholhok while young gun Ashlee Barnett is also ready to begin her first campaign as a fully contracted Firebirds player.
The travelling squad for the weekend will also include training partners Abigail Latu-Meafou, Lillyana Rennie and Sasha Flegler.
Joining the team in Adelaide will be midcourter Jessie Laga’aia after the Queensland Firebirds Futures Academy member’s impressive displays for Samoa at the recent Pacific Aus Netball Series in Brisbane.
All Suncorp Team Girls Cup matches will be broadcast live on Kayo Sports and Foxtel, plus for the first time, now on Binge.
