Gardner sustained a wrist injury after a heavy fall in the third quarter of the match, with scans on Tuesday revealing a fracture to her right wrist.
Gardner is expected to be out of action for up to six weeks. She will be working hard to ensure her rehabilitation is brief and she is able to return to the court as soon as possible.
The news is a setback for Gardner and the Firebirds after impressive displays in the past fortnight.
Gardner made her first Suncorp Super Netball start in the Round 6 win over Giants Netball at Nissan Arena and started again in last weekend’s clash with the Vixens, finishing with 65 Nissan NetPoints despite only playing 42 minutes due to her injury.
A replacement player for Gardner for this Saturday’s Pride Match against Collingwood Magpies at Nissan Arena will be announced in due course.
