Ruby Bakewell-Doran

Entering her fourth season as a Firebirds fulltime player, 2023 Laura Geitz Medallist Bakewell-Doran is the club's standout defender and an emerging leader.

Ever present for a second-straight season, the Queensland pathways product is closing in on her 50-game SSN milestone, recording the second-highest number of minutes played (850) across the entire league in 2024.

Bakewell-Doran claimed a club-high 53 deflections in 2024 as well as 15 interceptions, 17 rebounds and 41 gains in her 14 matches.

Bakewell-Doran also debuted for Australia in 2022, becoming Diamond No.188.

Having overcome various injury setbacks, including an ACL injury in her teens, Bakewell-Doran has established herself as a key player in the Firebirds' lineup with her importance reflected in the awarding of a three-year contract at the end of 2023.

Away from the court Ruby works as a content specialist and is a keen home renovator.
